Bluetooth and Park Assit modules
Gents,
My 2007 Q7 has the Tel button and the voice command button, except when I press the Tel I get a message "Telephone not installed" and when pressing the voice button I get Button Inactive.
I called the dealer to see if I can have the bluetooth module installed and the park assist too, he told me the bluetooth will cost thousands of $ because of wiring and the park assist will take 8 hours to install.
Is this normal? I would have thought it sahould be just plug and play since the MMI would have the interface.
Does anyone know if there is a place that installs retrofit bluetooth?
Thanks

First off, if you press the telephone button and you don't have a phone paired to the car it will say telephone not installed. It doesn't necessarily mean you don't have the BT phone prep.
You can confirm whether or not you have the BT phone prep (and all options your car came with) by calling Audi of Canada with your VIN number. It's a little hard to believe that your car doesn't have it, but a 2007 S4 Avant I almost bought also didn't have it.
You can also try pairing your phone with the car. You have to do this in the first 5 minutes of getting into and starting the car. If you have the BT phone prep it will automatically look for BT devices in that first 5 minutes. You don't have to do anything with the car, just go to the BT setup on your phone and begin the pairing process. If the phone "sees" the car and you can pair it, the pass code to complete the pairing is 1234. If the phone doesn't see the car and you can't pair any other device, you likely don't have the BT phone prep. Again, I would call AofC to confirm though.
Good luck!

Thanks Tony, i will try pairing with Q7 and I did call the dealer and they told it doesn't have but they also told me it's a 5 seat passenger though it's not. It's a 7 seat.
which is why I'm not sure if their info is right.
in any case do you know of anyone who sells or installs a bluteooth retrofit kit that works with the MMI?
Thanks

Sounds like your local dealer kind of sucks. LOL! Did you buy the car from them? Do they even know what colour it is?! Again, AofC (or any dealer for that matter) should be able to confirm what options your car has with the VIN number. I know it's a bit of a driving distance for you, but there's a super helpful Audi Brand Specialist from Audi of Mississauga who posts here regularly. His name is Alex (afretes on the forum) and I'm sure he wouldn't mind you giving him a call too.
As for a retrofit, the Kufatec module posted above has a good reputation. I bought a trunk module from Kufatec USA and even though we ran into a couple of problems (module required a software update for the newer model Q5) they were really good about it. Here's what they offer for your Q7:
Q7 - 4L : Kufatec USA, Inc., The #1 Supplier of OEM Volkswagen & Audi Retrofit Harnesses in the World

Re: Bluetooth and Park Assit modules
Just one last question, in the manual it show the digital speedometer on the driver information screen in the instrument cluster.
I tried poking around with all settings and I can't get it to come up.
Any ideas how to enable the digital speedometer?
thanks

Re: Bluetooth and Park Assit modules
There's a button on the underside of the windshield wiper stalk on the right side of the steering column. Pushing that button cycles through the different display options in the DIS. There's usually a set up menu, trip computer 1, trip computer 2 and digital speed display. Navigation display is added if you have the navigation option and are using it.
