I concur with the original topic discussion for this thread - the handling issue of V6 vs. TFSI...

The V6 is heavier in the nose and not as agile as the 2.0TFSI.

The reason for this?
As some have stated the tare weight of the models are the same.

Not sure, but thought it might have something to do with the location of the engine.

Audi have in the past got this a wrong a couple of times, with other older models having the engine to far forward and high in the engine bay.

In the 2.0TFSI (which i have) the engine is set low and back, a lot more than it's A4 cousin (so my performance guy tells me), this will afford a better stance, improved corning ability and agility and better corner hugging on any day.

The 2.0TFSI may not have the initial punch on open raods as some have descibed here, but the reason i have the 2.0TFSI is the potential of the engine, i have already done some minor work to it and have dropped 1 second 0 - 100Kms, with more planned once they develop more for the new valve lift Q5 2.0TFSI engine layout.

Oh, i also may be very wrong about the above, it may just be that the V6 and 2.0TFSI live in exactly the same goemetric location.

ChickenWing, did you do the APR stage one ECU upgrade on your 2.0 TFSI?
It's $600 and you get 229HP and 323Tq!! Thats amazing results and great bang for your buck. I think I would do this. Here is the link:

Rhyno - I'm way ahead of you.

Already dropped the stage 1 software in about 5 months ago - is awesome, really makes the car hop along with great responsiveness and a significantly improved driving experience...

I'm just waiting now for carbonio and the APR guys to come up with an air box intake or anything else for that matter that i am able to use on the Q'y...

I just pickied up my new Audi Q5 2.0T last evening and just simply love this vehicle!

I ordered my Q5 beginning of June, and at the time the 6 cyl. was not available to order, so I went with the 2.0T. Throughout my 3 month wait, I read so many reviews, some indicating that the 2.0T wasn't the right engine for the Q5. At the time there was no demo to try out so one had to go with their trust in Audi.

I drove the 6cyl. numerous times and let me confirm that the 2.0T with the new 8 speed transmission is a very powerful engine. The 8 speed really works well, offers smooth yet strong acceleration when needed.

I find the major difference and advantage that the 2.0T has over the 6cyl. is the ability to accelerate faster from lower to mid-range speed levels due to the turbo, high torque, and amazing 8 speed transmission. The 6cyl. does however accelerate better from approx. 100km/hr + due to the extra 60 HP, but how often do you find yourself on the highway wanting to floor it at that speed level? To me I'd prefer performance where I need it most.

I test drove the RDX, X3, X5, and even Porsche Cayenne, and the drive quality of the Q5 out performs all. What an amazing ride this vehicle has to offer.

This is my opinion based on my experience, good luck to all!

Q5 outperforms the Cayenne? I am pretty shocked and impressed specially seeing that they're not in the same class.

Thanks Rocco! Mine has just arrived in Halifax and should be here in Ottawa in a couple of weeks. I did not test the 2 L and I am happy to read that it is as good as the 3.2 up to almost 100h km/h. I need power for take off at he lights and also for passing rapidly cars that are under 80km/h on Higway 7.

That is in an error - the weights are not the same - the 3.2 is indeed heavier. I can't recall the exact difference in weights between the actual engines - I think it was about 100lbs - but that weight is also right out front, giving the 3.2 a higher polar moment of inertia, resulting in noticeably inferior handling. Also consider any differences in wheel weights. VAG likes to use some heavy clunkers for wheels; and, even a 5lb difference in wheel weights can have a significant effect on handling.

My suggestion: get the 2.0T and a Unitronic or Eurodyne chip - 250HP and 310TQ. Your fuel efficiency will also improve a bit over an un-chipped 2.0T!

I am not at all impressed that they're listing wrong info even if it is just wrong in KG.

Anyways, when you test drive the 2 make sure both have the same size rims, that makes a difference.
Yes it was an error, see my quote above where it was clarified. Difference is 200 pounds.

In Oz we can choose from the 3 lt TDI, 3.2 FSI, 2.0 FSI and 2.0 TDI. I was never interested in the 2.0 TDI, so I didn't drive it, but we drove the others, and own a Golf R32, which has, more or less, the same 3.2.

Whilst the 3.2 was nice, it didn't seem any better than the 2.0 FSI. It felt like you had to bury your foot into it, to get it going. It was a bit of a surprise, because the Golf doesn't need much encouragement at all.

Overall the 2.0 felt nice and nimble, and it was my choice. Unfortunately, it was not the bosses choice, so we've got the 3.0 TDI on the way. Mind you, that's extremely nice, but rather more pricey.

Hi Cheeba, before I got my Q5 (before driving the 2.0T) I contacted Audi Talk and asked:

Dear Sir / Madame;

My question is in regards to the Audi Q5 2.0T 2011 distributed in the Canadian market.

I have read numerous articales indicating that it is possible to re-program the ECU (Engine Control Unit) of the Q5, in efforts to
increase the overall performance (Horsepower) of the vehicle.

My concern is how will this affect other engine components, non-engine components, and systems of the vehicle in the short and long term.

Please advise

They replied:

Dear Rocco:

Thank you for contacting Audi Canada.

The vehicles produced by AUDI AG for importation to Canada are meticulously engineered to provide superb performance and to comply with all restrictions and regulations established by the Canadian government. Therefore, we do not recommend altering any of the components of an Audi vehicle. Obviously, any change to a control unit will affect other components and systems of the vehicle as well.

Again, thank you for writing.

Marjorie

AudiTalk

Personally, I don't need more power. But I found a certified Audi dealer in Newmarket ON that does chip ECU's they are called Pfaff tuning and also offer some sort of warranty.
