It lets you check and clear trouble codes, as well as change simple stuff like radio coding. It can get you in trouble ex: change dynamic headlight control - if you dont save it it puts a code on your dash board (which needs the full version to clear). So get the cheapie if you want to clear engine codes, get the full one if you want to make advanced changes.
