Default first time owner need help please!

hey guys, I have 1996 Audi A4. I just got it and I'm a first time owner. Since I got it I've had to replace the starter and battery. I got it started the issue is before I can start it I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor before it will start. Fuel pump kicks on. I can not locate the fuel filter to see if it's clogged. I also have a coolant leak I believe it's coming from the water pump but I drive down the road and it completely runs out and my car starts over heating and it won't let me drive no faster then 10 mph. Also when your behind me the gas smell is so bad it's burn your nose and eyes. Can someone please tell me where I can locate my fuel filter to see if it's clogged and give me information on my Audi please and thank you!

Google is your friend. I cannot help with your year A4 as I do not know it, but when I started out trying to learn about a new to me car, I done a lot of searching and reading online, some good info out there. Hopefully soon someone with knowledge on your car will chime in.
Sorry to say, but from the things you describe it sound like the car is suffering from several issues, best not to drive it at this point if you can avoid it.

I doubt your fuel filter is clogged. Not to that extent anyway. Check for vacuum leaks first. This sounds like you have symptoms of either unmetered air getting in or a sensor is out. As for your coolant leak, are you saying that your coolant leak is so bad that it all gets dumped as you drive down the road?? If that's the case then why are you driving it? Fix the coolant leak. If you water tank is at the appropriate level then coolant isn't your overheat issue. Check for thermostat opening and fans coming on. The top and bottom rad hose should be at the same temp once hot. If one hose is cool to the touch then your thermostat isn't opening. If both hoses are hot and youre at or above 90c and your fans aren't running then thats your problem.
