temperature gauge problem?

temperature gauge problem?
i am talking about audi 90 1993 m y temp. gauge atays on zero most of the time then moves to 90 and then when am in traffic goes on the middle line i assume 100 or 102 can some one tell me whts normal and whats not pls?
