Hello,i just bought a used 2001 Audi allroad this past October and I have been driving it for the last few months without any problems at all, Tonight while driving it at normal speeds in Automatic tranny mode i noticed that after i shifted into 4th gear that the RPM's would fluctuate quite a bit around 2000, and that i would have to rev up a bit to shift into 5th and then it would be fine. Does anyone have any ideas what this might be? I really hope i don't have to rebuild my tranny, Thanks in advance

 

is the car chipped?
if not, check the fluid or for a leak.

 

The car is not chipped and it is a closed tranny so i cant top up the fluid. I was thinking it might just be slipping or trying to put itself in over drive. But i dont know enough about that cars yet

 

if you are located in the GTA, i know a mechanic who is able to check your tranny for a lot less than the Audi dealer. PM me for more info if you are interessted.

 

Ok so i went to my Mechanic today and they were pretty sure from what the OBDII was telling them that the cat was not working properly and it was holding gasses inside the engine and holding it back when it is in high gear and at low RPM's
