Default 2001 Allroad with display oddity

I don't have the owner's manual for my recent purchase (2001) allroad. I found a 3 page one online.

However, it does not explain my problem?

While driving down the road for an hour @ about 80klm the centre display flashes what looks like the slow speed warning. "2.00r" or "9.00r". The display has some dead pixls...but its something like that...a digit...a decimal...two zeros...then something hard to make out.

The warning appears in that field of the centre display that is above the transmission position indicator.

Weirdly, the next day it went away...and re-appeared again after about an hour on the road?

Anyone know what this means? seen it before? or knows what warnings are displayed in this panel.

Thanks, first timer.
(ps. air-ride deleted, recent oil & filter, spark plug & air filter change)

The allroad will flash you a 'driving time alert' warning after 2 hours of driving. Supposed to remind you to take a break. Tapping the Trip Computer switch on the end of the stalk will turn it off. It will reset itself after the ignition has been off for more than 10 minutes. If it's been off less than 10, it will continue to flash again at 4/6/8 hours.

Amazing feature. Thanks for your help...must get those dead pixls taken care of and a manual.

For me I always find it unsettling when the car projects anything on the dash. Even if its a friendly reminder like "hey buddy, we've been on the road a while, how about you take a break...I think there's about $2.30 in my ashtray. Why don't you stop and have a coffee"

Look for the manual under the steering column - there is a little pocket/slot there and that is where its usually stowed.

As for the dead pixels - look up Paul at www.pixelfix.info
