Default 02 Allroad clutch gone

We took the Allroad on a roadtrip this weekend, it was a bit jerky around 105 km/h. I had something similar like this when the clutch pedal switch got loose in its bracket. So we pulled over at a rest stop, I managed to get the switch in a better position and we tried to drive off. The car would jitter terribly getting started but once we gained some speed it took us to our destination. I scanned the car and nothing turned up, squeeky clean read out.
After camping for the weekend, we had a 50 km drive to stay the night with the father-in-law which we just barely made. 3 km shy I couldn't get the stick into any gear while moving. So pulled over for 10 minutes and we were able to shudder and shake the last stretch. I scanned the vehicle and nothing turned up besides the 01570 turn-off delay short to ground issue. Not too worried about that one, will tackle that when I get it back home.
I crawled under the car, checked all the connections, everything looks fine physically. I was able to back the car out of the driveway but just barely, really had to rev it up to get it to move. Then none of the forward gears would engage when letting out the clutch. I could actually shift from 1 through 6 without even pressing in the clutch pedal.
The car is now at a Ford dealership almost 600km away (I had to get home) and I'm trying to weigh my options. The guy at the dealership didn't sound like they'd be able to help me, but they will attempt a prognosis.
Ideally I'd rent a truck and trailer and go and pick it up to bring it back to cowtown so I can get it into Tunedub to have it looked at properly.
Could this be related to the electrical issues and/or the clutch switch?
Is there anything I can get these guys to check for me to get to a better understanding of what the problem is?

Electrical issues aren't going to affect whether or not the mechanical features of the clutch/transmission work. It sounds like either your shift linkage is completely off, or a clutch/pressure-plate/flywheel failure (from my internet-limited diagnosis, the latter sounding more likely). Just to eliminate it as an issue, can you 'feel' that the transmission is actually going into the gears? If so, then it's not the linkage. The fact that you had to really rev it up to get it to move likely means that the clutch is slipping for some reason, and not able to grab enough to transmit torque from the flywheel to the transmission input shaft.

I don't recommend letting anyone that wasn't sure if they could do the job work on your car - that should tell you everything right there.

going to pick it up and bring it back to Edmonton. Got one guy telling me that they can't resurface the dual mass flywheel so he wants to sell me a regular single mass. Funny, I had 3 transmission shops tell me that it wouldn't be a problem.
also claims it is 13.5 hrs of labour. Kinda have the feeling this guy is raking me over the coals.

can anyone recommend a transmission shop in Edmonton to replace a clutch?

I'd be wary of resurfacing a 10-year-old DMFW. They are a wear item and do fail; and, if it has a ton of KM on it, I'd get a new FW of your choice.

I did buy a single mass flywheel to replace the dmf. With the South Bend performance clutch, I should have a little bit more torque when all is said and done.

anyone recommend a shop in Edmonton?
