Hello Audifiles, Have a very tight 1993 90s v-6 auto, and its a wornderful car and was a pleasure to drive, the thermostat crapped out and a buddy suggested he could take care of the problem, well months of non-op suggests I got the problem.LOL. He did not align the various marks and notches, he did try and start the engine, and it did not work. After discussion with several mechanics, I've decided that it might be best to treat this a a 125K service (I've got 163K on the motor) and replace all the valves etc, its the etc that I need help wiith, can anyone suggest what other parts might be replaced while we are going to all this trouble. hopefully it was a soft start and he only bent a few valves...As you know these are interference motors so there is a 100% chance you have some sort of damage.

you have to start pulling the heads off to get the valves inspected to be sure they are straight...

you will need headgaskets, cam seals, valve seals, timing belt, water pump, idler pully and various gaskets to name a few parts...

Thank You, Black_RS4, I will begin to look up those parts, Im going under the assumption that there are bent/damaged valves, and moving forward as though I was undertaking the 125k factory suggested maintanance, by replacing all the valves, gaskets, etc. Thank You again.

I have TWO 1993 Audi 90's. One auto FWD CS and a 5-spd Quattro. 2 weeks after I bought the CS, the water pump seized, shredded the timing belt and bent all the valves. The top-end rebuild is costing me more than I paid for the car (I thought I was getting a pretty sweet deal, lol). I feel your pain. Should have the car back in a day or two (after almost 3 weeks in the shop). The Quattro is going in immediately for new belts, check on the bearings, water pump and a few other things. You don't get burned this way twice (knock on wood). A little shell-shocked, but love the cars regardless.
