First time Audi Owner NW of Toronto
I ordered a new 2014 A6 TDi which should be here in 2-3 weeks. First Audi, first diesel and first new car purchase. Retiring a 2000 Subaru Outback which has been a great car and still in great shape and it's staying in the family. I hope this Audi gives us that kind of longevity/reliability.
I have plans to add a hitch to it right away, not really for pulling just for a bike rack and because I'm into HAM (Amateur Radio) I plan to mount an antenna on a bar in the hitch receiver. Audi doesn't offer a hitch kit for the A6 and they say "if we don't carry it/we don't support it". The aftermarket hitch offerings I've seen so far are all bolt-on to existing structures with no drilling required so I don't expect it to be an issue (I'm looking at a Curt hitch). I plan to only add the tail light harness if it can be a T harness with no piercing or cutting of the factory harness.
I also need to pick up 12V 20A straight off the battery and one of the sales reps said they frown on that too. I plan to just come right off the battery terminal with a fused wire so again I don't expect it to be an issue. I brought up the idea of a remote starter but that one was way too complicated and decided not to even go there.
If anyone has been down this road, I would appreciate hearing how it went for you.
