Find an A8, ditch the Jetta!
Hello all,
New member, first time posting. Sometime within the next year my wife and I will be looking to upgrade one of our vehicles. She is currently off on maternity leave with our third child. We had planned ahead and before having children purchased two used VW TDI Jetta's for their awesome mileage, we knew we would be looking for ways to save money with her on maternity leave for three years (one year per child). We have since upgraded one of the Jettas to a minivan and when my wife returns to work in the summer we would love to upgrade the other Jetta to an Audi A8L D3 with the 4.2L V8. My wife commutes about 70km each way to work and after driving the Jetta for years I want her to have a larger, safer all wheel drive ride. I am very mechanically inclined and did all the maintenance on the Jetta's including water pumps, timing belts and even a 5 speed manual tranny swap. I already have a genuine VAG COM cable and Ross-tech software downloaded which I was using often with the Jettas. I'll be looking to find a car no older than 2007 with less than 150,000km. I'm seeing them advertised anywhere from $11-13,000, which coming from a TDI Jetta seems quite reasonable for such a luxurious vehicle. I would be in the market for a TDI A8 but they are too expensive.
At this point I would just be asking for advice, suggestions, things to watch for in the search for the right vehicle.
