1999 Audi A6 Quattro welcomes you
Hello;
I recently purchased a 1999 Audi A6 Quattro 2.8 back on October 6th, 173,000km and I'm already at 193,000km. I love my car,
aside from the gas consumption everything about this car i love, handling, road presence. luxury.
I live up in muskoka near parry sound. and this car seems to love winter driving.
ive had a few issues with the car already but nothing that shouldnt be expected for a car of this age.
serp belt just went and im in the process of getting the timing belt done before it lets go and i have to buy another audi lol
Battery just let go, about 3 days after the serp belt (Original thats pretty good)
theres no rust on this car, driving pleasure is fantastic.
I get Cheap OEM Parts (the reason for me buying it)
other than the stuff i have done already and the timing belt is there any other reccomendations for what i should prioritize, i was planning on flushing most of the fludis when the timing belt was done, (power steering, tranny and coolant) do you reccomend this or should i foccus on something else first?

#1 and for sure the most important. Transmission fluid replacement, Transmission fluid filter and transmission pan gasket. The tranny fluid MUST be the one from Audi, there are literally thousands of transmissions that have needed rebuilding due to people using a generic tranny fluid. Some folks on here seem to think you do this every 80,000K, my mechanic(who rules, big shout out to Blitzkrieg Autowerks in Van) thinks every 100,000 is good. Audi states the fluid is for life, but this is not true. Everywhere I've read seems to think if this service is done properly, the tranny is bullet-proof.
#2 requirers the maintenance records and the "maintenance booklet or MB for short" that should be in with your OM. Simply cross reference the services done in the past 2 years with the scheduled maintenance laid out in MB, piece of cake.
#3 At some point your ABS module will go, when it does your ABS light will be on constantly and the brake light will flash upon start up and ring three beeps. The part is $660 but you can save $500 and have a better unit if you use cheapabs.com's service. They rebuild and improve for $100 and shipping is around $40 return. THEY OFFER A LIFETIME WARRANTY and 30 days money back, less shipping and have quite the great rep as far as I can see.
Hope this helps, I'm stoked for you, sounds like a great car to be bombing around ON in. Cheers, Adam.

Problem is maintenance book hasnt been filled out since 40,000km, i have to assume nothing has been done.
as for parts i have a parts supplier in toronto called autocamping its run through a buddy of mine and his small company my parts tend to be 60-75% of what audi charges and their OEM built parts (the exact same Audi dealers use)
The timing belt kit including all gaskets, waterpump, rollers, tensioners, belt and thermostat. cost me 308$ with next day shipping
Audi wanted to bill me around $800 (For the EXACT same parts)
so as for ABS Module i think a new one would likly be around 300$
I wanted to do the tranny service as I have never believed in "Perm" fluids. the car shifts funny from first to second when cold and you can tell its the fluid.
THe only other thing i may or may not do if i can give the car up for a few days is the regular screen issues, when the car is cold the information cluster reads fine, when it warms up (after an hour or so) about 1/4 inch all the way around the rectangle gets hard to read.

Those deals on parts are great! Wish I had such a deal!
Sounds like your on the right track, probably should do all the fluids in the near future so you know what's up. Cheers, Adam.
