Why are they doing that? I know that the DSG is terrific and they are very proud of it but, a sports car should be available with a manual no?

I agree with you, manual is the way to go IMO. I have no idea why they do this.

It's not about shifting faster or driving quicker. The cars are plenty quick either way. It's about giving us options and choices. Audi has gone the route where if you want one feature, you can't have it unless it happens to be part of a package. Like, you can't have a TT Quattro 2.0 or even a TTS with a manual, if you want the manual you have buy the 3.2. Or you can't have an A3 Quattro unless you get the big engine, etc. Give us the choices to buy the cars the way we want them. Even if we anachronisms still want the old fashioned manual shifter with a clutch.

Ya, I guess Audi wants to present the TTS with the highest possible level of technological sophistication in it's class. The DSG, quattro, ESP etc., are a big part of that. And it clearly delivers. But surely they could give us the more humble TT 2.0T with quattro, all the high tech engine, suspension and braking bits, and a 6 speed. Call it a sports model. Could be thousands less and be still a great drive.
