Default TPMS Malfunction

I recently switched to winter tires for my 2010 TT. The TPMS Malfunction came on and it doesn't go away after resetting the button. I was told by the Audi Service that I have to get sensors for the new tires. Is that true? I also read somewhere that they don't put sensors into the tires anymore for 2010 models. Any thoughts on how I can get rid of the message?

i have an 07 A4 and for my summer rims i had to by TMPS for the rims as well as my factory ones are going to be my winters now and i left the TPMS in them. so if you have new rims for winter than yes i believe you need to buy the TPMS for them. i think i paid 330cnd for them. not sure if hat is with or without taxes.
hope that helps a little.

Yes you do need the TPMS sensors in the tires in order for the system to work and give you a reading. however it can be disabled by un-programming TPMS

Any suggestion on where to get it unprogrammed? That means I will have to re-program it again when I go back to summer tires = additional cost.

Best to find someone local to you who has a VAG and buy them a beer ... it doesnt take more than 5 minutes to reprogram. That's exactly what I'll be doing for mine. Cheers !
