TT importation _ question re bumpers

Re: TT importation _ question re bumpers
the government changed the rules sometime last year, the low impact rating has been dropped to the same as the US. Other than daytime running lights, you dont have to change the bumper.

Re: TT importation _ question re bumpers
I imported an 04TT, USA specs in July 08. You DO NOT NEED to change the bumpers! I had to wire my lights to run as daytime - that is all. I had been thinking about purchasing for a couple of years but wasn't certain that it was worth it because of the bumper costs. When this was changed last year, I made my purchase. Hope this helps.

Re: TT importation _ question re bumpers
How are the tumors attached?
Is it a complete bumper, or are they attached from the inside?
When you guys talk of having them "removed" what exactly did the body shop do?
Thanks

The 'tumors' are pieces of plastic that are glued on to the bumper. If removed you have to refinish the entire bumper. In my opinion it was an expensive obstacle put in place by Audi Canada to discourage Canadians from buying in the US. Incidentally if anyone is going to have them fitted, and is also wanting 3M plastic chip protection on the front end, fit the plastic first, as the computer that cuts the plastic does not know about the Canadian 'tumours' and so fitting plastic over them is more difficult. ( I have tried to upload a picture of my old and new TT.s and you can see the difference even though they are different models. If the picture does not come through send me an e-mail at wjmackie@planet.eon.net
