I seem to get a funny exhaust resonance at 3200rpm in my TT 225. Does anyone else notice this, it's mildly annoying.

what is the sound that is suspect , what do you have for exhaust system ?

 

Best bet is to get it on a hoist. It could be as simple as something having shifted, but you won't know until you get under her.

 

i sopke to a guy at audi about his TT, he had a boost leak and it made his exhaust sound different.....he was getting more fuel less air......is was the diverter valve sticking open....guess that would be venting to much boost?

also i think i might have a boost leak it comes and go's they cant find it?? on the scan/log its shows its 8lbs-17lbs also the engine light come on/off....but the exhaust sound is still the same?

The exhaust system is stock which for 225 has dual rear outlets, and the performance is fine. I just bought the TT and am not too familiar with it. The resonance is only present at 3200 RPM doesn't matter if I'm shifting up the gears or down. What other symptoms would appear with sticky diverter valve? How can I tell if that is it?

 

I get the exact same problem in my 2001 225 TT, 140000km. It is only at 3200 rpm. It has been present for over a year. I had Mechanic trouble shoot it. They looked under the car and seem to think the vibration from heat shroud/shield up near the front of the exhaust system. They said there might be a small crack in it. It doesn't affect engine performance and they think it is not worth spending money on it. I am in Vancouver.

 

jack your car up and pull the heat plate off! i did! and i was fixed!

its too deflect exesive heat from the exhaust to the cab...they do rust out then rattle...will not hurt the car, you might find inside the car to be a bit warmer +1degree...but its like a $600 pary plus labour.

 

or the resonater is taken a crap
