02 TT Quattro electrical shutting down
Hi. New to your site but its got good info so I thought it would be a good place to post a question. I have a 2002 Audi TT Quattro 1.8T. I got it about 2 1/2 years ago and everything has worked great. It has about 62k miles on it. This morning I get in the car and the headlights, brake lights, turn signals, A/C fan, wipers and windshield spray pump do not work.
All dash and dome lights, the radio, running tail lights (when headlights were on) are working.
The first thing I did was check all the fuses in the drivers side dash. I started with the fuses that were not working in the car, found nothing blown. So I checked the rest with the same result.
The second thing I did was double check the break switch/plunger down in front of the break petal to ensure it wasn't stuck/broke. I did replace this about 9 months ago, $14.99 autozone I think. It looked good so I reinstalled it.
I took the car up to autozone, and had them test the alternator. The alternator was producing 200 amps at 2100-2400 rpms. So nothing wrong there.
I am hoping someone out here has heard of this and could offer some suggestions on what it might be.
Is there a main fuse box under the hood that I am missing? I was thinking maybe there was and that all the circuits that shutdown in the car are tied together there. But I’m having trouble finding anything out about a main fuse box around the engine.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
