So I've owned this 96 for 3000 km now and much to my wife's chagrin I've had to....
for safety
windshield
tie rod ends
brakes(rotors and pads)
front flex lines
so now it's on to the body had the stone chips and rusting on various spots and new side body moulding
Alpine head unit
extensive cleaning of interior!!
rad and heater core flush
I still need or want to get center caps for the rear, new side mirror glass and fix the dash and of course figure out the intermittent heat issue??
I love driving this and there's no payments!!

as long as you love driving it and the yearly repair costs are less than new vehicle repair costs than keep it! =)

 

If this is a Quattro, keep it up, it's the best looking of all the A4's (IMO). Well worth keeping.
But if it's a FWD it may be a different story.

After some debate I looked at the beat up rings and decide to paint them black, my other favorite colour. So they're painted but not being sure about the trim I just put black electrical tape on it to see if I liked it and might paint later which means I have to do the rest of it, so for now it's a redneck winter front
for some reason I can't post pics will try again later

 

those center caps are super cheap for a set of 4 on ebay.. I'm trying to find a singl cap myself for my audi a4.. but different center cap andhard to find.
