Default Tire Pressure Monitoring System - what gives?

I seem to have a lot of tire questions lately....

Just bought my 2008 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro (Progressiv) back in June and am still getting used to all its gadgets. It's much more advanced than the 1993 Audi 100 it replaced.

Anyway, to cut to the chase, I thought it came equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. I was driving today and thought one of the tires felt low so went to a service station to check. Turns out it had 13 pounds of air in it and there was a nice big roofing nail in my Pirelli!

So, after getting the tire repaired I went looking to see if the tire monitoring system wasn't set right or something and I don't even see it as an option on the computer display. It shows all the other options that the manual shows, but where "tire pressure" should be displayed as an option, "radio info" takes its place.

Does anyone know whether this particular model of car was supposed to come equipped with this feature? If so, what gives with my car?

Data sticker (build sticker, info label) decoder for VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda

Use the link above to decode your options.

Get your maintenance manual (or look in the spare wheel well); inside the front cover is a factory sticker with the codes for ALL the factory options that were fitted in your vehicle. enter all the info into the fields in the form and it will show you what options were installed and a bunch of other stuff as well.

what color are your valve stem caps? Black should mean no TPMS, silver should mean you do have it.
