Has anyone experienced a situation where the seatbelt pre-tensioner suddenly activates for no apparent reason?

Yesterday, my wife and I were stopped a light with no-one in front of us. I was not moving but suddenly the seatbelts
tightened without reason and a warning message of the dash indicated that the seatbelt pre-tensioner was activated.

Could the pre-tensioner be activated by a vehicle in the next lane that is driving by?
