Default Stereo Power Question

Correct me if I am wrong but this is how I believe the stereo behaves

1. Turn car off and stay in vehicle
2. Remove keys from ignition
3. Hit the power button and stereo plays
4. Open door to exit and stereo shuts off ??

If this is different let me know because my stereo keeps on playing no matter what?

I cant turn my stereo on unless I have the key in the ignition in and turned to the 2nd position.. Thats when the computer asks me to apply the brake b4 fully turning the ignition.. Hope this helps..

The reason for asking is I believe that the dealership tampered with my car while it was in for something totally different and now they even deny attaching a scan tool at all.

Weird... If you are saying that the stereo never did this b4, then you could blame it on the dealership..During maintenance, they usually update the computer..Last time, i felt my car alot more perky then it was b4.. Perhaps they were going through the computer settings and left the stereo enabled.. If you havent, nows the time to go through your stereo, learn all the options possible, so it doesnt turn out that the dealership blames it on yourself

my 2002 keeps on playing, according to my manual its supposed play for an hour without the key, afaik the only thing that gets killed after you open the door with the key out is the power to the windows
