Default Service at OWASCO

One year ago aI got a great 2002 A4 1.8TQ with half a year warranty left: I paid top dollar for it because it was perfect: lowered with Koni-yellow, NeuSpeed springs and inlet, SAAMCO upper inlet, Forge diverter, and was chipped by Chris Tapp in Ottawa.

A while later it showed a code and had some problems, and I took it to OWASCO in Whitby... Now: this past year I paid $7,000, from warranty they must have derived another $3,000 or $4,000.

The one-year review is like this:
1. I had the car in four times for an engine code (P0411) that they could not fix. Out of warranty they miraculously fixed it for about $400.
2. Had the timming belt replaced fro about $1,300 and soon after I had, and still have problems with coolant smell coming inside; they attempted to fix it 3 times.
3. After the timing belt job, driving in the rain ALL the yellow lights came on on the dashboard: it cost me about $300 for this automotive meltdown
4. After the Automotive Meltdown the cruise control stopped working: another $300.
5. Just before the warranty expired May 2007, I sked OWASCO to inspect the car and repair a suspicious noise coming from the front driver-side wheel: they blamed the mods made to the car: 5 days later at 120Km/h the same side's drive-shaft "goes". To add insult to injury the Williams Towing truck driver dmages the car when he lifts it on the flat-bed! OWASCO gets AUDI to cover the drive-shaft under warranty but they replace only the broken shaft, not both in the front, as it should be done!
6. Every time I asked them to read the computer they are giving me this line that the VAS has a communication problem: I instructed them to flash the computer so they can read it, and they refused!

They have a nice place and they are polite, but in my opinion they are just out to get your money...

Rmember that I did say originally that "They have a nice place and they are polite..."

Jasson Turner: the "Service Advisor" is an extremely polite person; Jack too... so is Neil and Mike, the Service Manager!

But in the end I paid money for repairs that should heve been done under warranty, for deffects created in the process of servicing the vehicle... in my opinion they did not have my best interest at heart.

And a friend warned me that she had a Golf bought from them, new, and she is now driving a Honda... and she is (born in) German, raised in Canada!

hmmm... well have you talked to Mike about the problem and your general unhappiness about the experience at their dealership?

Mike is a nice person and he listens!

But (the last time) 2 weeks ago, he gave me a $50 discount on a $700 invoice. The repairs were for code P0411 that I have complained about since a year ago when the car was under warranty! And a cruise control that did not function since the month before when I had the car in for "water in the ECU" which happened 2 days after I had a "timming belt" job...

Black_RS4, I could go on... but it comes a time when one buys a VAG-COM, and the Bentley manuals and one does it himself!

I bought a car in a class higher than KIA, so It is not the money it is the feeling I got...

I went to see Chris Tapp in Ottawa - Tapp Auto - and I was impressed with his shop!

I was even more impressed with Chris who returned my ECU to "factory settings" did a test to make sure that everything is good and then he re-loaded the "chipping" with upgrades.

For 13 months OWASCO claimed that there was a problem with the ECU the way it was "chipped"... well they were either lying to me, or they do not know their stuff!

They were wrong and they cost me thousands of dollars: way to go OWASCO!

More so: WAY TO GO AUDI CANADA for allowing these practices by your dealers!

Too bad you had a bad experience. I have been dealing with OWASCO since 2001 and never had a problem - they have always been very good. Then again, I have never modded a car or kept one out of warranty. Do you think maybe the chipping just confused them since they are not used to dealing with it like your tuner is?

JMCC,

The "chipping" was one thing and it demonstrated their lack of knowlwdge and willingness to think!

Read the "head" of the thread: it is all stuff that I have documentation on without any exageration!

Yes, the warranty stuff is great: with me OWASCO fixed the headlamp washers to the tune of a couple of thousand dollars on AUDI's warranty before they got it right!

After the warranty they broke things to charge me the repairs: see the timming belt episode in my original message...

I am not bitter.... I am furious with myself for allowing OWASCO to take me so bad: after all I did not think that I am all that naive...
