Rotors on my 2012 Audi A3?

Rotors on my 2012 Audi A3?
Hi. I have owned an Audi A3 since 2012. I only have 45000 km. on it.
I went to our local garage here yesterday and had my summer tires on the original Audi rims taken off and had my winter tires put on winter rims.
After the tire swap, the garage owner asked me about the rotors on my A3. He said the front rotors are worn pretty bad! He asked if these rotors are the originals that came with the car?
They are the original rotors and I have only had a new set of brake disk pads replaced about 16 months ago.He also said the rotors should be replaced.
Please look at the attached photo and tell me what you think has caused this to wear the rotor like this with only 45k on my care.
