No traction when driving on snow??
For the past two winters my car has had no traction on snow. I just recently did a rear bearing change since it badly needed it thinking that it would solve my problem. And yet every time I hit snow it feels like I am driving a boat. However on dry pavement I have perfect control and it doesnt shake the slightest bit at speeds of 120 on the highway.
Its a 2001 Quattro, any suggestions as to what would be causing this would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: No traction when driving on snow??
They certainly should be snow tires. But low profile, wide tires like you would run in the summer, say 225/45/17, will perform very poorly in snow, even if they are winter tires. The ideal winter set-up for an A4 would be narrower (more pressure per sq cm) and higher profile for greater flex, say 205/55/16.

B5 S4 running upper 300's and with newer 225/45/17 Bridgestone Blizzak true snow tires on stock wheels, I can pull away from every vehicle I have encountered including Hemi 4x4's during any winter road condition... other than 100% ice then I have to drive nice
