How many satellites should nav system recognize?

Default How many satellites should nav system recognize?
Weird stuff has been happening to my nav system that no one has been able to explain or correct. I am told it may be because I am not receiving enough satelitte data. My system recognizes 6 to 8 satellites and I am told it should be recognizing 15 to 20. What do most system receive?
