I was told by a service consultant to avoid using ESSO gasoline in my A4 Quattro as it apparently can foul the engine. Is there any validity to this?

 

I've never heard of it before.
What I heard was the shell had a little more detergent and helped to avoid the carbon deposits.

 

It all depends which gas station you fill up at and what grade they trully get. I find that geting pumps with a dedicated premium line works best as you do not get whatever is left over in the hose in the previous fill up.

I don't notice a difference between gas stations but generally get Shell 91 with a tank of Petro 94 mixed in every 5-6 tanks for a little extra cleaning.

 

i would go with hyperbeast.

For turbo's get the highest Octane possible (Chevron or Shell 94) and avoid ethanol blends
