Default A few questions if anyone can assist??

Hi

I have a 04 Audi a4 1.8t Quattro.
108000 miles

I've only owned my audi for about 4 months and i'm loving it however i have noticed a few things that are concerning me a little.

Recently the ESP light on the dash has been going on while driving, when i turn the engine on and off it then disappears. It has only happen on a few occasion however i'm worried that something big is about to happen.

Also, Every now and again when i'm pulling away in 1st or 2nd the power disapears, i can sink the gas down to the floor but nothing happens until i lift my foot off the gas then apply it again, any ideas what could be causing that?

I'm also finding it hard to understand that fact that my audi states it has 190 bhp. I previously had a 130bph mondeo tdci which i recon was faster of the mark than my audi. I know you do loose some power with the 4 wheel drive but still expected the a4 to be quicker off the mark.

I did have the car independantly checked when i got it and no faults were recorded.

I'm greatful for any help
Graeme

I'm no expert but I'll give my 2 cents.

The ESP light going off could be abs sensor going. I had that issue on my Acura.

As for lost of power. It could be that you just need a tune up. Sparks plugs, etc.

Either way it's best to take it to a mech.

Don't forget Audi's are heavy cars, as a result they don't feel as zippy. My A6 2.8 feels rediculously slow and under power. But the handling and Quattro makes up for it. One day a 4.2 will be in the stable.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Thanks for your help, i'll take it into the garage and ask them to have a look.

I had a read at the manual and it gave a few example of why the ESP light would come on and the brakes were one of the reasons so thanks again.

It also stated that when the car is being corrected by the ESP the light should flash on the dash to show this but i tried messing about tonight in the snow and when the car was sliding no such light came on. I dunno.

Thanks again
Graeme
