Default Audi Q5 OIL leak as missed to put the OIL CAP back ON

Hi Guys,

I missed to put the oil cap back ON after i did oil top up yesterday and drove around 150 KM straight before i realized .

Having following problem since the incident ;
- Oil spilled inside
- Engine Light is ON
- Car was shaking and stalling briefly which stopped after 5 min
- Now car doesn't have power and not going above 100 KM speed.

Would really appreciate if some suggest what could be the reason for limited speed?

How much oil did you lose? If the Check Engine light is still on after you have refilled it, get someone to check for codes with an OBD2 tester. Many shops will do it for free or get one of your own. They aren't that expensive and are easy to use. Canadian Tire often has them on sale. You can then look up the codes online and find out which one is giving you the light and go from there.

Thanks for the response.

Actually Engine light went off, and car stopped stalling. Took the car to the garage next day and they cleared the code and serviced the car( oil and filter change etc). The damage wasn't that bad as drove the car straight for 150 KM before replacing the cap back.

I was more concerned for the debris whether it managed to escape into the engine or not ,and will cause issues going forward.After inspection it didn't look that bad from outside, rest time will tell!

Glad things worked out. I had a similar thing happen with a Fiat 124 back in the seventies. The O ring on the dipstick froze during a prairie winter and crank case pressure popped the stick out. Low pressure light came on a few days later and I shut it down immediately. Topped it up with oil and no damage.
