Audi Gauging Interest in TT RS Through Social Media
With most automakers starting to utilize social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to their message, Audi is taking a different approach. They want consumers to send the message to them, specifically about whether the Audi TT RS is fit to be brought to America.
The 444-horsepower Audi RS5 coupe is expected to arrive in North America by September 2011. No measures have been made public about a trigger point to bring its smaller, more nimble cousin, the TT RS, to American roads. As of the beginning of September, 2010, just over 10,000 people have “signed” the petition on Audi’s Facebook page.

PR stunt. They're just using it to gauge feedback and test social media outlets for existing and potential customers.
As a bonus at the end of the day they can now say "we listened to what you asked and we delivered." Shameless self promotion.
The TTRS is already slated to come to Canada and there's no way it wouldn't also be headed to the US.
