Default Cylinder Compression Test?

how do you get a compression test done? Did you give it to a mechanic to do it? I called a local tuner and they said they can do it. It would take an hour of labor x $109/hour. So I am looking at $109 to get this test done.
What do you think? Particularly people who have done this.

it involves you getting a tester, taking out a sparkplug, screwing in the tester, disconnecting your ignitor wires and cranking the engine...

don't crank for minutes because you'll flood the engine.
