I am new to this forum but OP had only one answer.
My suggestion is to use the same size. If you want a little bit narrower tire, it's 215/65R18 for the similar diameter.

Salut Claude
Ideally I would have 2 sets since it will come cheaper on the long run
For winter I would purchase used 17" mags with narrower thread
Check audizine for indepth information
Regarding winter tires brands: I would stick with MIchelin XIce 3, Nokian, Toyota Garit

If it is a lease then you could simply use te same 18 and put winter rubber

My friend with a B8 went to the dealer last week and have started looking at winter tire options. Stock He has 245/40/18's. Turns out they recommend a 16" set for winters 225/55/16.

225/55/16 is a bit drastic. I was more than fine with 235/45/17 in deep snow with dunlop winter sports. Just get good tires and you will be fine.
narrow tires will give you better winter traction. as long as the tires have a safe load rating for your car, then it should be no problem. After all it is winter unless you are a die hard enthusiast
