Winter is around the corner!!!
Winter tires, yes? No? Why?
I live in the Snow Belt and drive an A4 B7 2.0. I want to take full advantage of the Quattro system in our cars.
What is you Quattro experience in the snow, did you have winter or all-season tires? What size were your tires?
Some may think I'm crazy, but frankly, I can't wait till it snows. The A4 is my first all wheel drive car. I loved driving my 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS (RWD) in the snow. I hope the A4 is just as much fun.
If you have any cheap connection on snow tires or want to start GB, please post.
I will be buying a set of four P235/45R17 in the near future and would love to save some money (GB, special connection, sale....), I'm even considering used.
BTW: I don’t need any quotes from the manual about what it says regarding driving in the snow with Quattro, already read it.

Re: Winter is around the corner!!!
I have a 2002 A4 1.8t that I purchased in January '05 with brand new Bridgestone all seasons in Nov '06 I got a set of used, (5k), pirelli snows put on. I went from a 17" wheel to a 16" wheel and from 45 to 55 aspect ratio.
I got by pretty well during the winter of '05 but stopping distances are considerably shorter with the snows, especially on ice. In addition, confidence on the highway is much greater with the snows than all-seasons. Traction to accelerate in snow or ice is not an issue though the ESP works a lot harder with the all-seasons.
I would strongly recommend the snows, especially if you want to have some 4 wheel drift fun with the ESP off.
Me too, I can't wait until the snow starts, I've had a number of fwd cars in the past and 4wd audi's are leaps and bounds more driveable / fun and safter in the winter.
Buying snows, you may want to check with Audi, our local dealership usually has good winter tire/wheel specials, your local dealer may do the same. (I would recommend a second set of wheels for winter).
Greg.

SIGGIEPOP:
Lets get another GTG going B4 the weather gets bad. I'd say lets have it for October, so we can enjoy all the fall colors. I rely enjoyed the GTG at the forks this spring. The only complaint I have about that meet is when some of the guys went to get gas it rely ****ed the convoy. Everyone should have gased up B4 the meet.

Re: Winter is around the corner!!!
i was still running summer tires (dunlop sp9090) when the first winter storm hit last year, aside from having a longer braking distance, quattro probably saved my *** that day.
btw, i do have winter tires, i was just too lazy to change them lol
