Default Wax how often? Clay bar every time?

I'm new to this waxing thing. First I have an A4 premium 2010.

I heard that you should always use clay bar before you wax. Need clean surface for wax to bond perfectly, and to not seal the contaminant along.

Secondly, i heard that people would wax every 3-4 months. Some crazier at every month.
I believe 3-4 months makes sense.

But then, lots of people say they clay it just once or twice a year.

So, do you guys use Clay bar whenever you wax?

And at which step do you guys apply polish? And what type do you guys use?

Btw, i just washed (turtle), clay bar (mothers), and waxed (gold class meguiar) my wife's Honda fit, and i'm loving it.
I will do that to my A4 soon.

Thanks

Thanks,

but really, what i'm trying to get out of this thread is really,

is to get more feedbacks on, whether you guys use clay bar every time before you wax, for those who wax often.

Thanks!

Others may have a different opinion but I do the clay bar once per year in the spring. However, I wax fairly regularly in the summer. My son who details professionally may have a different opinion. What you did to your wifes car will be great on yours.

love the claybar. It's the neatest thing in the history of washing cars. I never knew what it was until about 2 years ago...now I'm obsessed. I claybarred my windshield too...cleanest glass I've ever looked through.

i was a detailer for a few years, i waxed my car once a week. i would say give it a good polishing twice a year. Farecla and meguiars make good products, i would stay away from 3M because all of there products contain carcinogens
