Default VAG-COM Questions

will my VAG-COM work with a male/male serial port connector cable? (my Vag and PC both have female serial ports)

Should I go for male serial to usb?

I have heard people saying they don't work with connector cables.

Does the cable have to be Null Modem? (whatever that means)

Or does anybody have a link to buy what I need?

Found some cheap ones on ebay...

a serial port on a computer should be a male connector. a blue female is most likely a video out. check that first before you may waste money on a cable. most newer computer don't have a serial port anymore.

Caution with Serial to USB adapters, port emulators, etc when using VAG-COM and esp if reprogramming modules. There are known issues.

Best results with a direct connect VAG-COM cable.

a PCMCIA card to serial/RS232 should work, but don't quote me on that.

Play it safe and go to my website to find someone in your area that has a new VAG cable that is willing to help.

Interface Upgrades: Ross-Tech Store - (click here)

If you have a real Ross-Tech cable they have an upgrade program as well.
