Which "traffic ticket specialist" to choose?
Well I received a present from Ontario's finest this past Friday on my up to the cottage just outside Bracebridge for 132km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Naturally I will try my damnest to try to fight the offense (yes I know, I was speeding, I know) to try to reduce the 4 points as close to 0 as possible, as we all know, the $ amount on the conviction is not the issue but the demerit points.
Being from Toronto, and the offense in Bracebridge (up Hwy11 towards Hunstville) it would be very hard for me to go to the court house to book the dates, then appear and *try* to get my ticket reduced, so I was thinking of hiring one the "traffic ticket specialist" like X-Copper, Pointts, OTT Legal or ..... <insert suggestion here> to fight for me.
So, if any of you have any experience with similar cases, or with any of these paralegals, please feel free to chime in with any relevant info.
Thanks and wish me luck.

Take the time to learn how radar/laser/vascar works, the technicalities and legalities of each - it'll pay for itself over and over.
Or....just show up - the courts don't want you to show up, so just show up @ the office and negotiate, you'd be amazed at what you can do

Ok, ended up "hiring" Pointts to handle the paperwork and the negotiating for me. They hada local office and a verson that knows the entire court staff there -- will see what the results are.
If this ticket was in TO, I wouldn't have to bother with such, but being in Bracebridge, I cannot take 2-3 days off to handle the logistics of it.

If you didn't give an attitude to the cop, he should have reduced it to something with 3 points or no points; and you should have paid for it.
But i have a brother who is a cop. He reduces 40km/h over the speed limit to 10km/h, and the person still goes to court to fight it even though no demerit point is involved and the fine is only $40.
Naturally, some cops are reluctant to reduce it on the spot because some human beings go to court to fight it even if he gets a ticket for 1km/h.
Don't trust a ticket guy, though. . If i were you, i would take time off and go to court by myself. How would u know that the lawyer, or ticket guy will really defend you? Either case, you lose or win, he gets paid.. So.... Good luck.

No attitude to the cop whatsoever, when he walked up to the window I didn't even have a chance to say hello to him, he was already speaking and asking for the lic/reg.....apparently this guys is known for being a hard *** and a hard cop to deal with.
I had to hire as I don't have the time to take off to follow through with it all - the fee is cheaper then my time

Got a ticket today on Steeles. Some guy was pushing me from behind, so I sped up to move out of his way. But before I had the chance to slow down, a cop with a radar or laser told me to pull over. 99 over 60. He seemed nice though, and we even joked around. He told me to come to court and he'll reduce it. Hopefully he'll reduce it to 2 or less. I'm still on a G2.
This is what I get for being nice and trying to reduce congestion for everybody else coming off work on a friday afternoon.

I got this from a friend:
WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TICKET IN CANADA
This system has been tried and it works in every province.
If you get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever the case may be, you're going to get points on your license.
This is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points.
When you get the fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine is 79$ make the check out for 82 $ or some small amount over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check for the difference, however here is the trick.
DO NOT CASH THE REFUND CHECK !
Throw it away!
Points are not assessed to your license until all financial transactions are complete. If you don't cash the check then the transactions are NOT complete.
The system has received it's money and is satisfied and will no longer bother you.
This information comes from an unmentioned computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every province.
I talked to an ICBC investigator and he said its true....
...what a system, eh ?
** don't know if is true or not but if you have no other choice I think you should try it. I will.

That's a risky trick. One mention of something like this, and I highly doubt the loophole hasn't been closed. Going to court will almost always remove, if not reduce, the points.

Sounds like a spam for me too but I never got a ticket in Canada, don't even know how it looks like and never had to deal with points and court. As you say better go there and fight the points if you can. All the best.
