prospective 2015 A4 buyer in GTA, some questions
hi all, i am in the market for a car and the 2015 Audi A4 is one of my choices. but having never owned an audi before i would like to hear some input from existing owners or those in the know.
i live in markham GTA area if that helps, and going to buy new
- i kept reading that the A4 has had excessive oil comsumption issues with the earlier models. has the issue been sorted out for the current 2015 model?
- any other known issues for the 2015 model that other owners are reporting?
- is the A4 good to drive in the snow?
- how much is the audi care for the A4 model, and is it worth paying for it in your opinion? i plan to keep the car for more than 5 years
- in the case for GTA dealers, what other dealer add-ons would a dealership try to force onto your bill and can you decline any of them? stuff such as etching etc
thanks in advance!

Hey rebecca,
Let me see if I can answer some of these questions,
- i kept reading that the A4 has had excessive oil comsumption issues with the earlier models. has the issue been sorted out for the current 2015 model?
Yes this is a well known issue with the older A4s. But this problem has been rectified with the current generation, B8.
- is the A4 good to drive in the snow?
This would be an emphatic YES with the Quattro, especially with a good set of Winter tires. With a good set of winter tires you will most definitely have fun with the Quattro. There is only so much an wheel drive can do with all season or worse summer tires.
And nothing beats sensible driving habits in the winter especially during wet and slippery conditions.
So after buying an A4 the best investment would be a good set of winter tires.
- how much is the audi care for the A4 model, and is it worth paying for it in your opinion? i plan to keep the car for more than 5 years
The answer to this question is mixed, but I personally considered the Audi care a good value considering you are prepaying 750 bucks for three scheduled services. I added this when I bought my S4. I believe if you were to pay for each of these service they can cost about 300 to 400 in average.
- in the case for GTA dealers, what other dealer add-ons would a dealership try to force onto your bill and can you decline any of them? stuff such as etching etc
A good sales person will not try to over bear you with a lot of add-ons and pressure you. They can push stuff like 3M protection, tinting, warranties and appearance warranties and other stuff. But end of the day you will need to do some home work on what these packages are, how much Audi wants for them and are they really needed for you.
For instance, if you are leasing your car, getting the Audi Appearance Package, which I believe runs around 1500 or something, will ensure you won't have to worry about any cosmetic damages to the car at the end of the lease.
Most of the time when they provide you with these options, you will have time to decide on these add ons until you take delivery of the car.
Also, remember at the end of the sale, if you think the sales person if pressuring you with additional add ons, you can just walk away.

The B8 A4 is near end of life. It will be redesigned in 2016/17. IMOH, in order to take advantage of Audi's latest technology, you should strongly consider an A3 instead which is a new model for 2015. My 2 cents

The A3 is a really fun car to drive. Test drove it when I was looking at the 2013 A4 and definitely liked it for the fun factor. The touch sensitive control panel for the MMI is a definite plus in this car.
I didn't go with it because I found the interior including the back a bit crammed and the dash was a bit bland for my taste.

hi, sorry for being offline all this time, but thanks all for your responses!
A3 is not an option as it is too small for my needs unfortunately
