I am trying to buy a 2005 or 2006 A6 3.2 quattro in the states and bring it back to Canada.

I am wondering if anyone has dealt with the Canadian Gvt on these cars.

I am also wondering what needs to be done to convert a US spec car to a Canadian Specs car.

I have heard of Daytime Running Lights and Some bumper issues, but not sure if they apply to the 2005-2006 A6? And what of this new immobilizer business?

Any information would be appreciated.

I just don't want to go pick up a car and find out that I have to spend a arm and a leg to make it road worthy.

I imported a 2005 a4 a couple months ago and all I had to do was activate the daytime running lights. As far as I know your car should already have an immobilizer but im not sure about the bumpers I wouldn't think there would be too much else to change on an a6 compared to an a4.

I am interested in doing same in a few months. Did you find out anything beyond what is commonly published...additional changes, extended warranty coverage etc

 

as far as I know the warranty should be transferable...

 

Transferrable warranty IF an Authorized Audi dealer performs the modifications. Like 1move said, RIV.ca will tell you if your car is admissable. Im looking to import a MB ML 320CDI for my dad, currently there are no 2008's that are admissable, '07s are...

 

I was under the impression that Audi A6 required no modifications. Can someone confirm?

 

I have another question - if you can't import a new car, can you have someone buy it for you who lives in the US and then just purchase it from them?

No state tax if bought out of residence state and transfered to canada before they plate it...or buy it in NH. no tax on nothing.
