09 A4 2.0T got recall for engine Oil burning issue
After almost 2 years of driving my 09 A4, it started burning engine oil way faster than before. My A4 burned 2L of engine oil with in 4k to 5k KM, the engine oil light came on every 2000km. Then they called me back to dealer to have a oil test. I wonder any others owning 09 A4 2.0T has same problem as my car?

It seems to be a problem a lot of B8's have, A4 or S4. Just curious, how did you break in your car? Did you baby it or did you just beat the crap out of it the day you got the car?

Re: 09 A4 2.0T got recall for engine Oil burning issue
i am pretty sure the way I drove it and took care of it better than most of the A4 drivers. So it shouldn't be My problem. hehe
Ouch new engine how is that possible. i am doing the TEST for them now, they filled up the engine oil and asked me to go back after 1000km, i am at 300km now and if the oil meter reading is correct I lost 0.2L so Far
And sorry maybe i was wrong, it is not a recall, if it is then it is my second recall for this car.

they're going to drain all the oil out of your car after about 700 miles (1100km) and will weigh what comes out. If it's beyond a certain level of 'burn', then they'll pull your engine to see why. compression test...etc. They're, in all likelihood, going to need to get you a new longblock.
Good news...just going to be a pain in the *** while you drive a loaner car for 2 weeks waiting for your engine.

If it really happen, I hope they will give me an A3 dealer car while they hold my car for 2 weeks. last time they hold my car for almost a month trying to fix some stupid electronic problem, they gave me a A3 with their dealer name on it, and i did the advertising for the dealer for almost whole month. haha....anyway get an A3 better than loan me cheap Japanese cars.

So.. I had the exact same problem with my 09 A4 after about 6 months of driving...
Everyone 1000-2000kms I would have to top up a liter of oil.
Took it in for an oil consumption test.
The car failed the test and they literally ripped by engine apart. Here is what they did.
- Removed engine block
- Found rust forming on a piston ring
- Replaced piston ring
- Replaced cam shaft actuator
- Replaced 1 actuator
After all that and putting the car back together, found out the wiring was wrong for the fan blower, it wouldn't turn off. They had to fix some switch.
Now - because the piston ring is not readily available, the part had to be machined and shipped from Germany. Since the engine was already ripped out, I couldn't drive it my car.
So, I was the lucky driver of a 2009 Toyota Corolla for 30 days (yes, 30 is how long it took them to fix it)...
Good luck, and if the dealer needs help fixing your car, tell them to call me. I've experienced all of it.

Re: 09 A4 2.0T got recall for engine Oil burning issue
I have a 08 A4 and It's now the second time for me that only after 2000 km from changing my oil I just got a oil-min warning light on. the first time the dealer said that it's normal, but now I'm wondering could i be having the same problem?
Any suggestions???? Should i get a oil consumption test done as well!!

Re: 09 A4 2.0T got recall for engine Oil burning issue
Yea should ask them if your car is burning that much oil, do it within warranty.
My car might as well fail the test, i lost 1/4 L engine oil at 500km.
If they get me something like a corolla to drive while fixing my problem for a month, I will rather take my car back. I don't mind about putting 1L engine oil in every 2000km, I can buy 30 bottles of engine oil. BUT i got huge problem of driving a cheap car for a month. I lease my car anyway, lease end in 1.5 year........i don't care if the engine blows.. I will get BMW next time if it end up bad.
