Single-DIN in an A4 - How to lock it down?
Hey folks,
This may be a total newb-style question....
I'm about to swap out my Concert head for a Kenwood MP3 deck, and I'm just trying to identify how to secure the deck to the dashboard, so that if Joe Crack Fiend breaks into my car, he can't just pull the deck right out?
Can anyone share a method for securing the deck to the car?
Thanks!

I had just gone through the same thing with my deck install. I figured it’s just like any other deck install - flop the cage in, bend out the tabs, slide the deck in place and presto! But no such luck. Audi had to make it harder.
What I did is I cut out small tabs in the factory deck holder thing (when you slide your deck out, this will be the black plastic that it rested in), and then bent out the securing tabs into the holes that I had cut. This was the only was for me to secure the deck. Before you cut, test fit everything! I have a Panasonic deck that is motorized, and when I installed the cage and pushed the deck in as far as it should normally sit, the Scoshe DIN adapter that I used (AU2300B) was interfering with the motorized faceplate. I had to screw my deck to the cage about ½” forward of its “locked position” to solve this.
What I want to know is how to install aftermarket speakers in this damn car!!!
I have a 1997 A4 Quattro 1.8T

What a lot of people do is cut out their factory speakers and mount their new speakers to the frame of their old speakers. I don't know if that make sense to you. Basically, the stupid factory speakers have a square bracket. Cut the actual speaker (middle part) out and mount the new ones into the part you cut out. People also just wire in the old connectors to their new speakers so that you don't need to bypass the built in amps and your new speakers will be amplified.
Stock amps are 2 ohms, most aftermarket speakers are 4, dont expect it to be as loud as factory speakers. Might be clearer, just not louder.
