Nav Unit from China?
Any one ever hear of those decks from China with built in NAV for around 5 hundred.
They look alright but I was wondering if anyone had any experience using them and installing them, Any issues?

On several forums, you can read that these systems are sometimes very slow (for exemple, up to several minutes to load the GPS module), that the amplifier is cheap (quality sound) and the unit is noisy (fan).
For cons, I have not personally tested. For all these reasons, I decided not to take any chances and I bought an OEM RNS-E on eBay. To you to see.

Re: Nav Unit from China?
I agree with 4Circle. The quality is missing. Also, some don't integrate with your steeringwheel controls and NONE will work with your DIS. That means your top 1/3 of your DIS will always be blank.
If you are looking at an alternative to OEM, check out Zenec as it is german and has no integration issues.
BTW, I went through a similar process and landed on OEM. Keep an eye on this forum and Ebay as you can pick up something for a reasonable price.
Good Luck.

Good eBay seller. I paid 899.00 USD, shipping included, with DVD North America maps and GPS antenna.

Thanks for the link,
It looks like a nice replica. I can't determine if the until integrates with the steering controls or displays the radio and turn-by-turn info in the console. Can you advise?
How is the performance regarding map look ups, etc...

Re: Nav Unit from China?
I have been trying to get mine to work in my a4 avant 2006, for two weeks. I finally got it to power up, but the seller did not include any GPS (although he said it was on the 4 gb SD card, included). He did include a back up camera, and TV receiver antenna, neither of which I could get to work. I did get the steering wheel controls to work, however. I am going to pay a shop to try for 2 hours, and if they can't get it, attempt to get my money back from the Hong Kong EBay seller. He insists the system works, but I never got my rear speakers working either. Support is nil for this, and for that reason, I'm out.

Re: Nav Unit from China?
it is too expensive . not all Nav unit form China is bad. i installed a car head unit from happyshoppinglife for half year, a China car electronics wholesaler.the quality is great and the after service is also great.. but i will not deny that there are many Navi unit is bad quality. so the quality depends on the manufactorer
