Looking for ideas on a system
Hey everyone. I am new to the audi community with an A4 late 90's. I want to put a nice sounding stereo system into it.
Can anyone give me some input. What type of head unit, amps, boombox?
Thanks in advance, love the site.

Re: Looking for ideas on a system
really, if we new your budget it would be the easiest to answer you then... but, not knowing that..
Eclipse head unit, Higher end model, very nice for SQ.
I am fan of Boston Acoustic mids and highs, even morel are ok.
As for amps, i like Kicker.
For a sub, i think a nice kicker L7 12" in a ported box will do enough damage
Put a nice powerful amp behind it and look out!
Again, define your budget, would be a lot easier Easy to blow through $5000 doing the Audio in your Audi.

on a lower budget note, Go rockford, Subs and AMP for the price, it's the most bang for your buck, headunit, i'd say pioneer, lot's of functions good preouts, problem is doesnt match audi's colors. unless u get the avic d3. If your in Toronto and you need someone to install it, msg me.

Re: Looking for ideas on a system
Hey I got a Cap and an amp for sale... Amp is alpine 450W? I think I even got the complete wiring set and a capacitor. No subs! deck or speakers! The amp retails at about $200 ish? not sure I havent used it yet bought it of a friend and it was used for like 2 months still works good. The whole thing cost me around the $220 as I got good deal from a buddy .... I can sell it for about ....$140+ shipping?? if you want. Wiring kit is new, the cap I have two of them I will take pics if you are interested.

Be careful replacing the stock system. If you are going to upgrade the system then you will have to replace everything. The stock head unit runs at like 1ohm or 1/2ohm its crazy. So in order to get enough power to the speakers you will have to put in a high powered head unit or better yet a stereo amp.
If you are happy with the sound quality of the stock system but just want more base it is very easy to wire for subs. Just buy an LOC and you can wire that in by the stock amp and sub in the back. This creates RCA out so you can easily wire an amp and hook subs up.
Cheers and good luck
