Default Tire Selection

when I go and buy new summer tires for my B7 S4 can I go with slightly wider ones on the same rims. If so what are the hazzards if any?

Firstly, not all tires are the same width even though the numbers may be the same. From 1st hand experience, Toyo and Hankook run narrower than Michelin and Goodyear (I had rubbing issues with the "same width" tires but was lowered to close to 25" at the time). Also, you should try to maintain the same rolling diameter to ensure ABS and speedo work properly. Here's a site to assist you: Tire Calculations

Cheers !

Steve, thanks for the quick reply. I intend on using the OEM BBS CH 18" wheels but wanted to go to 245 instead of 235. I contacted Tirerack.com and they suggested that I post my question on a forum to see if anyone has done similar. I have decided on the Michellin Pilot for the summer. I am currently on Pirelli winters.
