hid lights for 2001 s4
Hi guys, I am going to purchase a 2001 s4 this week. Just wondering whether anyone can help me on this. I just realized that the S4 doesn't have HID on it. Can someone advise me how and where I can find the HID and install it.(prefer not to be too expensive) thanks

you'll either have to buy american headlights and factory hid bulbs and ballasts and do the swap or just buy an aftermarket h7 based hid kit.
one thing you have to watch is that we have daytime running lights which run the headlights at a reduced voltage. you'll have to disable the drl's since it affects the bulb and ballast. there are write up's on other audi forums which explain what to do. pm me for details.

There are a few options
1. You can get the valeo (OEM euro all-clear) housings from somewhere like Achtuning in the USA. Then you have to find the HID balasts, also by valeo. You can find the ballast at Audi dealerships in the USA as well as a few decent tuner shops online.
2. A US wrecker with an S4 will likely have the HID system available for you. They will have the regular orange corners though.
3. Buy the valeo housings and any HID ballast from other cars, like BMW.
