Buying an 07 S4 Avant

Re: Buying an 07 S4 Avant
what is 'clay bar'? I know it's some kind of cleaning thing for the paintjob restoration or something , but what do you have to do before you do it?
everytime I search the topic, I get a 59 step detailing thing that takes 9 hours....which is not what I want to do!

Re: Buying an 07 S4 Avant
From Meguiar's FAQ's ABOUT CLAY: "By utilizing Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit, you can, in less than 30 minutes, clay an entire vehicle, giving it back that "smooth-as-glass" feel…"
When you run your fingers over your freshly washed car you often feel little rough imperfections in the surface. You are feeling small particles (contaminants) that have embedded themselves in or bonded to the clear coat. You can even feel this on a new car, especially one that has been transported by rail!
The clay bar itself resembles a bar of soap sized piece of plasticine. Meguiar's is white, 3M's is light blue, but they both work equally well.
It's applied to a clean surface with a "lubricant." Most companies that produce clay bar systems recommend using one of their detailing sprays, but a spray bottle of soap and water will also work. The detailing spray works nicely because you don't get any suds while working.
You'll notice the difference in your first application. Start in a 1'x1' area on your exterior and then compare it to the surface next to where you just clay barred. You'll be pretty astounded. You'll also see the contaminants on the clay bar. The area on the clay bar that you used will look a little dirty. When it gets too dark, simply mold it like clay to a clean spot and keep going. It's disposable, but apparently will do a few cars.
Keep in mind that the clay bar also removes wax in the process. It's recommended that you wax your surface right after using the clay bar.
That's the one step, thirty minute application answer.

Thanks! Now this time I KNOW I saw you. LOL. I saw the silver avant. Had to pick up my girlfriend and her pals from the bar. What with with the Asian Invasion?! Those Hondas were like annoying flies!

Re: Buying an 07 S4 Avant
lol, I'm not sure. The black one ended up following me 3/4s of the way to my buddies place after you turned off. Rode my *** the whole way too. Sadly right now though I'm waiting for Audi road side assistance, after I dropped my buddy off I hit a huge pothole on Parliament and had to limp home with a flat. I really don't feel like spending 30min outside in this -40 changing it so I'm making them do it
