Default B8 S4 Brake Squeal

Anyone experiencing this problem may want to check this thread out. Looks like Audi is taking notice.

Annoying brake squeal - wtf?!?! - AudiWorld Forums

I personally don't have this problem on my MY2011, but it seems many do.

I have the brake squeal on my new 2011 S4 manual.

It seems worse in the cold weather. I have 500 miles on the car so far.

I wil call Audi service to check it out.

Any other thoughts?

Same squeal for me starting at about 3000kms on my S4. Tried some hard braking which helped a bit, then tried a couple of very hard brakes in reverse and this has stopped the squeal for now?

I'd for sure let the dealer know, but I'd also DEFINITELY keep Audi Canada in the loop as well, simply for Audi's data collection. Not sure if there's a TSB out on this or not.

I'm almost expecting this problem to develop - seems there's a lot of people who had nothing for a few thousand miles and then it suddenly started happening. When my car first arrived, I didn't have "squeal", but more of a creepy low-pitch moan under light braking at very low speed. Bedding them in hard stopped it and I've had nothing since.....

I have a 2010 with 33,000 I'm. I notice minor brake squeal occasionally. Not a big deal. I suggest when you notice it to put your car in reverse and brake when it is safe to do so. Seems to work for me.

I've had a very loud squeal almost since day one. But it only appears at certain temperatures. Usually when its 5 to 15 degress celcius out. I took it to the dealership at my 18k service and they said it's because of a small rust buildup around the outside lip of the rotor. They machined the rust off. It helped for a couple of weeks but it came back in my case.
I don't really care anymore because I'm upgrading the brakes this spring since I track the car.

I hear guys talking about this on all the forums regularly. Is it that bad?

I'm trying to think of what they complain about more...this or the waterpump.

On the bright side, a B8 S4 owner with stock everything but wheels/tires ran 12.69 at the dragstrip the other day in Florida. Conditions were perfect with super cold temps and the track is at sea level, so DA was around -700. Still...awesome time for stock!
