B7 S4 Tire Damage
Hi guys,
I'm a new S4 owner as of about 2 weeks ago. I love the car, amazing power and handling. When I purchased it used from the dealer I had them put on 4 new Conti winter performance tires which have been great.
Today I must have caught a nail / screw and punctured a tire downtown Calgary, I was traveling at low speed in traffic, heard a noise and felt a slight vibration and suspected something wasn't quite right although my passenger thought I was nuts (not a huge vibration / noise). Sure enough the front passenger tire was flat. I changed it on the spot, and took it in for repair the same day. To my surprise it was un-repairable, the puncture was in a repairable spot, but rolling on it flat had shredded the inside of the tire (handfuls of shredded rubber inside).
I'm curious - is this a freak incident or something I should expect when I get a flat tire with low profile tires? I'm running the stock 7 spoke 18" wheels.
Thanks!
Matt

Re: B7 S4 Tire Damage
I wouldn't concern yourself with it. How often do you run over nails? I'd start by avoiding the nail ridden streets in Calgary. Drive only on the ones that have no nails.
just enjoy your car. Also, post pics or an intro thread or I'll personally fly out there and pour some tacks on your driveway
