Okay i have just baught a 2000 audi s4 2.7t the car runs good but i have noticed smoke coming up thru the engine bay right under the mass air sensor. it seems oil or somthing is dripping onto the manifold and burning. i have looked the best i could with a flash light from above and below the car and cant see any leeks. the best thing i can come up with is it looks like it is smoking from right under the valve cover closest to the fire wall. it looks like there is a clamp there with a seal. would this be part of the valve cover gasket or is this a diff gasket mabe cam seal or somthing not to familair with this engine. any help would be great. i am going to order new valve cover gaskets to start this off i will post weather or not this is the problem.

While you're at it, order the cam chain tensioner seal as well (2pcs)...leaks on that side are common. Look it up in the forums over on audiworld.

If opening the valve cover to replace vc gaskets and cam tensioner gaskets, might want to consider replacing the cam seals and cam plug too. Then you should not have to go back in for a long time.

Remember to put a dab of sealant on the 4 corners of the vc before reinstalling cover as per Bentley.
