B5 S4 headlight mod
I had some good HID's lying around the house and wanted them in the s4, what i didn't want was to blind other drivers in the process. I also wanted to get rid of the orange plastic reflector in the corners of the D.O.T. units. E codes would be nice but this will get me a great result without spending a bunch of $. Besides if I screw it up I have the perfect exceuse to buy E codes!!
I orderd some 2.5" hid glass lenses off ebay to replace the glass halogen lenses. I couldn't find any audi ones but I did find some for an Lexus 430(whatever that is) The lenses looked similar so I took a gamble and ordered them. The pair was new and only $34 due to a small scratch that I havent even found yet. The lenses are clear glass without the ring pattern in them. The ring pattern is what throws the light all over the place (fine for halogens, not for HID's. The Clear lenses will focus the HID light output where it is supposed to be.

Re: B5 S4 headlight mod
Man I suck with computers? How can one write between pic's?
Oh well here is some more..
I warmed the lights for 20 min at 200 degrees. This next part sucked. It was brutal work and the glue was tough as hell, I thought I would break something on the lenses or impale myself with the screwdriver. I had to re heat each lense three times as it would cool as I pulled and pried. It all worked out in the end and I got them apart. Glad that step is over.
I removed the lense and the reflector and bulb holder unit... thingy. The new lenses fit perfectly!! Sweet.
Ill finish up tomorrow.

Re: B5 S4 headlight mod
Well I finished the headlights and what a difference. The light cut off is crisp and getting rid of the orange reflecrors added a nice clean touch. All said and done it was less than $75 and worth every penny. Here are some more pics.
