2000-2001 S4??
I am looking around for a 2000-2001 S4 and was wondering what everyones thoughts were on them. I have heard mixed reviews on their reliability and was wondering if they are actually as unreliable as alot of people state they are. Also, any helpfull information would be greatly apretiated. thankyou.

i have a 2000 s4 (Got it in Dec 99). Enginewise i've had no troubles at all. I have had a few issues on and off with the car in general though. Mostly minor annoying stuff. I love the car, would definitely recommend it. Actually, I've been thinking about the new RS4, but am not sure if there is enough of a difference to justify $100k... In my opinion the B5 S4 is an awesome car.

the car is 250hp stock, and approx. 270ft.lb at something like 2500 rpm. But with the chip, I dont haev a clue of what the numbers are. If anyone knows of someone selling a audi S4 could you please let me know? I live in Calgary Alberta, but am willing to go pretty much anywhere to find a car. My girlfriend works for West Jet so flying is very cheap for me.

I e-mailed the dealership in toronto a couple of days ago and still haven't gotten a reply back yet. I have also seen the one in burnaby at miracle auto or whatever. It seems to be decently priced. The other one in Victoria looks to be nice, but I test drove a automatic S4 and I don't think I could handle going to a automatic. I have always driven a 5 spd, and auto's really annoy me.

The numbers with chip are about 300-310 hp and about 350 ft-lbs. I had a link to the dyno graph I can find if needed... The chip makes a *significant* improvement to performance. I chipped the car about 3 years ago.
I could be convinced to sell my car...
I have a nice set of 16" ATP alloys I use for the winter too, with Pirelli winter tires. I have brand new Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 on OEM wheels for summer.

I bought mine second hand from a Mercedez dealership out over in Victoria.
Been an awesome ride but clearly the previous owner didn't seem to give a rat's *** about the next owner (nor should I have believed the dealer's so called 100-point check approval).
He (or she) had kept the car cosmetically in pretty good condition, splashed out on some Toyo Proxes T1-S tires and installed some kind of modified exhaust that I have yet been able to identify, but for the year that i've been driving it, I've had to repair the coolant tank (cracked, and common i've read), had to replace the 02 sensors ($$$), fixed the front CV boot etc etc.
I suggest unless you intend to modify the crap out of your car, buy it with an extended warranty and let them deal with the financial problems.
As for your comment on an auto i'd almost agree. Being my first car the parents refused to let me go 5 Spd so I was stuck myself, but if you splash out on the GIAC tip chip, i've been told you get "super bike" responses (though that's debatable. I'd say if you're used to 5, go with 5. For me, i've come to like the tip, still have semi-control over shifts and if im lazy just let it do the work).
As for the chip performances, APR's is:
Year:2000-02. Model:S4. Engine:2.7T. 91 Octane Chipped:307hp/366lb-ft. 93 Octane Chipped:318hp/382lb-ft.
