Do you have a picture of the actual unit?, I am trying to understand what you mean by 'normal wear and tear' ... how old is it? Does it come wit the necessary RNS-E wiring harness as well? And can you provide the part/model number.

it will fit in a b5 but there is a lot more to it than plug and play on the b6
the dash needs to be modified and there is a bit more splicing of wires to do and they are behind the instrument cluster.
